Planning and design

Each project is run by a team made up of at least one lighting consultant, an architect, and if necessary a product designer. During the creation of a lighting concept, that will become an integral part of the architectural project, we focus on the lighting requirements, the integration of the lighting concept into the architectural concept its self, the energy efficiency of the design, and also on the practical questions of maintenance and durability of the lighting effects.

Coordination

This is an integral part in the succcess of an architectural lighting project. A good coordination between the client, the architect, the interior designer, the M+E consultants, the contractors, the lighting fixture manufacturers, and the lighting design team is an integral part of a well managed project. The coordination is most important for the verification and approbation of all integration and manufacturing details, as it will ensure that the lighting effects are not compromised during the construction phases. This is all the more important for international projects.

Specifications

The lighting equipment is specified for a project, for the lighting effect created, its compatibility in terms of design and safety, and also for its avaibility. The fixture specification pages contain all the information required for a full understanding of the light fixture by all the different people that are involved in the project. The specification pages include a description of the light fixture, the product reference, and contact details of the manufacturer and / or the distributor, the specification of the lamp that is to be used, the colour of the fixture, the installation method and location of the fixture, all specific accessories that are required, along with the references to any specific architectural integration details, together with all other information that may be required for the correct ordering of the light fixtures.

Details

Integration details that explain the way that a fixture is to become part of the architecture are prepared when required. Specific manufacturing details for a special light fixture or a specific adaptation of a standard fixture are provided when required by the architectural project.

Electrical information

Total electrical loadings per lighting zone and by level are compiled, the lighting control methods are also given. This information is compiled in the main for the other consultants (electrical, air conditionning, and ventilation) so they can develop the best solution for the electrical supply, the lighting control system’s position, the air conditionning and ventilation of spaces within the architectural project. The listing also used by the contractor and manufacturers for the fabrication and delivery planning.

Lighting Control

The lighting control system and / or dimming system that will be best adapted to the client’s needs is specified. The control system is detailed zone by zone with complete information regarding the types of control, the number of control zones, total lamp loadings, the dimmer specifications along with the manufacturer’s references and contact details.

Budgets

Throughout the design phases of the project, the client is provided with budget information regarding the equipement and installation costs of the lighting. This will allow the client to maintain a complete budgetary over view on the advancement of the project throughout its evolution. Our intention is to keep the client aware of through out the project.
